Montopoli and Montorio approve balanced municipal budgets

The municipal council of Montopoli in Val d'Arno approved a balanced budget that secures funds for public works and community support. Key allocations include €530,000 from the Tuscany region to repair the roof of a kindergarten damaged by weather, €475,000 for landslide remediation on Via Malvecchiaia, €30,000 for rental assistance, and €30,000 to renew park playground equipment. Additional spending covers tree pruning, road safety works and a new regional‑funded signage system for the town hall. The 2026 waste‑tax (TARI) rate was raised by about 3%, with discounts for low‑waste households.

In Montorio, the council also confirmed solid finances after a six‑month review and approved a budget adjustment that adds €346,000 of new resources. The money will fund extraordinary maintenance (€90,000), salary updates for municipal staff following a collective‑agreement renewal (€80,000), cultural events and higher energy costs. TARI rates remain unchanged from 2025, with flexible payment options. The town reported prompt payment of over €16 million in invoices, averaging 22 days, underscoring efficient fiscal management.
