Montréal Marathon to cause weekend road and transit closures

The 34th edition of the Beneva Montréal Marathon is scheduled to take place from Friday, October 9, through Sunday, October 11, involving approximately 35,000 runners from 57 countries. The event will cause significant road closures and transit disruptions across various Montreal neighborhoods.

On Friday evening, the Mile at Parc Maisonneuve will begin at 6 p.m. without impacting vehicle traffic. Saturday's 1-, 5-, and 10-kilometre races will require closures around Parc Maisonneuve from approximately 6:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., affecting areas such as Sherbrooke Street East, Rosemont Boulevard, and Viau Boulevard.

The most substantial disruptions are expected on Sunday during the half-marathon and marathon. The course starts at Espace 67 on Sainte-Hélène Island and proceeds through Vieux-Montréal, Le Plateau-Mont-Royal, Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, and Ahuntsic-Cartierville before finishing at Parc Maisonneuve. Key streets including Rue Notre-Dame, Boulevard Saint-Laurent, and Boulevard Saint-Joseph will experience rolling closures between 6:30 a.m. and 3:25 p.m. The STM advises commuters to prepare for adjusted métro service and to purchase fares in advance.
