Montreal airport worker dies after being struck by French bee aircraft

A ground crew worker has died following an accident at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport on Monday evening. The victim, identified by unions as 39-year-old Oscar Robayo, was an employee of the ground handling company Samsic.

The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. during a pushback operation involving a French bee Airbus A350-900 destined for Paris-Orly. Reports indicate that the worker may have stumbled and was subsequently struck by the aircraft's landing gear as it was reversing. Passengers on board witnessed the impact, with some describing a traumatic scene involving screaming.

Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) confirmed the fatality and stated that support measures have been implemented for employees and witnesses. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) and the Office of the Coroner have been notified and are conducting investigations into the circumstances of the accident. The investigation has also been referred to Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) as it is being treated as a workplace accident.
