Montreal airport ground worker fatality

Overview

A ground crew worker died following an accident at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport during a pushback operation involving a French bee Airbus A350-900. The incident occurred on a Monday evening around 7:30 p.m. while the aircraft was reversing for a flight bound for Paris-Orly.

The victim, identified as a 39-year-old ramp agent for the ground handling company Samsic, was struck by the aircraft's landing gear. While the worker was rushed to a hospital, they subsequently passed away. French bee reported that all passengers and crew remained safe during the incident.

Investigations into the circumstances of the death have been launched by the Quebec coroner’s office, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB), and the Office of the Coroner. The matter has also been referred to Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) as a workplace accident.
