Spanish municipalities host traditional festivals with enhanced safety measures

Various municipalities in Spain are hosting traditional local festivals, accompanied by specific safety and cultural programming.

Vilafranca del Penedès is implementing a ‘Punts Liles’ (Purple Points) initiative to prevent gender-based violence and LGTBIfobia, supported by eight social professionals and 77 local police officers. Similarly, Monóver is deploying ‘Puntos Violeta e Iris’ to provide support and prevent harassment during its September festivities.

Other regional celebrations include the patron saint festivities in Illescas, featuring free concerts by artists such as Maldita Nerea and La Misión. Càlig is celebrating the Mare de Déu del Socors with religious acts, music, and communal meals. In Tortosa, the Festes de la Cinta are beginning with traditional proclamations and parades, while Vilafranca also prepares for the Mare de Déu del Llosar with religious processions and free shuttle services.
