Monza ex-barracks to be converted into 600-bed student housing

The Agenzia del Demanio has issued a call for private sector proposals to transform the former IV Novembre barracks in Monza into a large-scale student housing complex. The project aims to repurpose 19,000 square meters of public land to address the shortage of accommodation for out-of-town university students.

The development is expected to provide at least 600 beds. Under the proposed terms, the pricing must be fully subsidized and lower than average market rates, with a minimum of 30% of the beds reserved for highly meritorious and low-income students. The project is part of a public-private partnership strategy for urban regeneration and is integrated into Monza’s Public Real Estate City Plan.

In addition to residential units, the design should include a central square to connect the university residence with existing public functions and the upcoming M5 metro station. Proposals may also incorporate spaces for tourism, conferences, and other functions to enhance the area's sustainability and social value. Interested parties must submit their proposals by January 31, 2027.
