Moon Festival celebrations held in Dominican Republic and Ecuador

The Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, was celebrated in both Santiago, Dominican Republic, and Guayaquil, Ecuador, to promote Chinese traditions and cultural exchange.

In Santiago, the first edition of the festival was held at Parque Central. Organized by the Jade Foundation and supported by the Chinese Embassy, the event featured traditional music, dances, Kung Fu, Tai Chi, and dragon and lion dances. The celebration included various food stalls offering Chinese cuisine and sweets, alongside entertainment areas for children.

In Guayaquil, the festival took place on Sucre Street, involving over 70 entrepreneurs. The event featured red lanterns, dragon dances, and street food. Local organizers noted that the festivities, held near China's National Day, aim to share Chinese culture and stimulate the local economy in the Chinatown district, where approximately 130 businesses are owned by Chinese citizens or their descendants.
