The Plaza Real in El Puerto de Santa María marked the launch of its 2026 Summer Bullfighting Season, a high‑profile program featuring four bullfights, a novillada with picadors and a rejoneo fest, along with practical training sessions for emerging riders. The season is notable for the unprecedented four‑day appearance of renowned matador Morante de la Puebla, who will fight in every main corrida. The event coincided with the plaza’s 146th anniversary and was attended by Mayor Germán Beardo, entrepreneur Carlos Zúñiga and several prominent bullfighters, including Francisco Rivera Ordóñez and Antonio Domecq. Zúñiga described the program as “historic” and said the summer’s bullfighting epicenter will be El Puerto, adding that the four‑day engagement will be remembered for decades. Beardo highlighted that the lineup re‑positions the city among Spain’s leading tauromachic venues and praised the commitment to both established stars and the local cantera.
