Morante de la Puebla targets Oct 12 corrida at Sevilla’s Maestranza
Bullfighter Morante de la Puebla is negotiating to stage a corrida on 12 October at the Real Maestranza in Sevilla, aiming to restore the date as a major bullfighting event. He discussed the plan with José María Garzón, manager of Lances de Futuro, during a meeting in Santander. The proposal would replace the festival that was slated for that day, which benefits local brotherhoods and autism charities, and could be moved to the following weekend.
If the talks succeed, Morante could perform six bulls solo, a long‑held ambition, making it his sixth afternoon in the Sevilla season. The festival’s provisional programme includes riders such as César Rincón, Juan Ortega, Pablo Aguado and novillero Pepe Martínez, but the lineup could be revised if Morante’s appearance is confirmed.
