MORE Energy launches first overseas hybrid solar‑storage plant in Romania

Greek renewable‑energy firm MORE Energy has placed its Stalpu 2 project into trial operation in Romania. The hybrid facility combines a 63 MW photovoltaic plant with a 10 MW battery system storing 21 MWh, targeting an annual output of about 76 GWh – enough to power roughly 32,000 households. MORE estimates the plant will cut CO₂ emissions by over 26,000 tonnes each year.

Stalpu 2 marks the company’s first renewable‑energy asset outside Greece and its initial hybrid solar‑storage installation. The launch expands MORE’s footprint in the Romanian renewable‑energy market and strengthens its regional role in Central and Southeast Europe, complementing its existing activity on nine electricity exchanges across the area. The project is presented as the first step in a broader strategy to build a diversified portfolio of renewable‑generation and storage assets beyond the Greek border.
