Morelia International Film Festival announces 2026 official selection

The Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) has announced the 96 films selected for the official competition of its 24th edition, scheduled for October 16–25, 2026. The selection includes 12 feature films, 12 documentaries, 64 short films, and eight productions in the Michoacán Section.

Directors for the selected works represent 17 Mexican states. Notably, 40 percent of the works are directed by women, and four titles are from filmmakers belonging to indigenous peoples. Winners will compete for ‘El Ojo’, a sculpture by artist Javier Marín. Certain winners in the short film and documentary categories may qualify for automatic consideration for the Oscars®.

Festival accreditation is now available for purchase through Cinépolis via their website or app. Options include a $600 MXN tier providing six tickets and a $1000 MXN tier providing 11 tickets, along with various concessions and festival benefits.
