Morelia traffic authority announces alternate routes amid construction

The Secretaría de Desarrollo Urbano y Movilidad (Sedum) of Morelia, led by María Elena Huerta, issued a set of alternate routes for motorists traveling through the Obelisco area and the Tres Puentes railway overpass. The detours respond to lane reductions caused by the construction of the Morebús rapid‑bus system and a new cable‑car line.

Drivers on Avenida Madero heading to Tres Puentes are advised to turn onto Calle Mintzita, continue on Rita Pérez de Moreno and join Calle Manuel Herrera to bypass the reduced‑lane segment. Those moving from Tres Puentes toward the historic centre can use Avenida Alejandro Robles, then Avenida Michoacán or Guadalupe Victoria. For trips to the southern districts such as Ciudad Universitaria, La Huerta or Camelinas, the suggested path follows Avenida Periodismo, Calle Gaspar de Villadiego and connects to Calzada La Huerta, Calle Francisco J. Múgica or Avenida Universidad. Motorists crossing from Quiroga to Charo are encouraged to use the bypass road, while traffic on Calzada La Huerta toward Tres Puentes can use Calle Juan Manuel Pantoja, Jesús Solórzano and re‑enter Avenida Madero. Sedum urged residents to plan their journeys, respect signage and follow the new directions to keep traffic flowing smoothly during the works.
