Morelia International Film Festival announces tribute and workshops
The 24th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) is hosting several significant cultural events. The festival will pay tribute to Janet Alcoriza, a multifaceted actress and screenwriter from the Golden Age of Mexican cinema, featuring a film program and a photographic exhibition.
In collaboration with the Sundance Institute and Cinépolis, the festival will host the Morelia:Sundance Story Laboratory from October 15 to 19. This workshop aims to support Mexican filmmakers by providing personalized and group sessions to improve screenplay quality for seven fiction feature projects.
Additionally, the Michoacán Secretary of Culture is offering free screenings of films nominated for the 68th Ariel Awards, including 'Soy Frankelda', 'La reserva', and 'La libertad de Fierro'.
Other regional cultural activities include a civic-military parade in Morelia with over 4,000 students to commemorate the anniversary of Mexican Independence, and a special screening of the film 'Chicharras' by Zapotec filmmaker Luna Marán at UNAM.
