Morena appoints Manuel Zavala as interim secretary of organization

Mexico's ruling Morena party has named Manuel Jesús Zavala as interim secretary of organization, replacing Andrés Manuel “Andy” López Beltrán. Zavala, a native of Campeche, previously served as the party's secretary of Social Movements and as regional delegate of the Programas del Bienestar in Campeche. He also chaired Morena's state executive committee in Campeche and acted as a political delegate in Yucatán during President‑elect Claudia Sheinbaum’s 2024 campaign.

The appointment is presented as part of Morena's internal strengthening ahead of the 2027 federal elections. The move also coincides with a revamp of the party's National Elections Commission, which will be chaired by Citlalli Hernández and include party leaders Ariadna Montiel and Oscar del Cueto.
