Morena candidates commence state coordination registrations in Baja California and San Luis Potosí

Alfredo Álvarez Cárdenas, a leading Morena aspirant in Baja California, intensified his territorial outreach in June 2026, touring the state and meeting militants to promote the achievements of the current administration and the party’s “second floor of the transformation.” He is preparing for the formal registration of candidates for the state coordination, scheduled for June 22.

In San Luis Potosí, Morena members discussed the upcoming registration process, which requires applicants to submit extensive documentation and obtain a license before filing. Potential candidate Carlos Arreola Mallol is expected to request a license to enter the race for the state coordination, a step seen as a prelude to a gubernatorial bid. Internal tensions surfaced around the enforcement of the licensing clause and accusations of favoritism.

Separately, U.S. agencies FinCEN and the Treasury are reported to be reviewing money‑transfer operations of Mexico’s Banco del Bienestar, indicating a cross‑border financial probe.
