Morena suspends party rights of Puebla deputies Salvatori and Palomares

Morena has imposed a temporary suspension of party rights on Puebla local deputies Nayeli Salvatori and Graciela Palomares following controversial remarks made about elderly people during a podcast. The National Commission of Honesty and Justice characterized the comments as ageist and degrading.

While the suspension prevents both legislators from participating in Morena’s internal processes or seeking party nominations for the 2027 elections, it does not affect their current roles in the Puebla Congress. The party representative, Alfonso Bermúdez Ruiz, noted that they may potentially seek candidacy through allied parties like PVEM or PT, depending on coalition agreements.

Separately, José Luis García Parra, a cabinet coordinator in Puebla, defended the implementation of audience rights and the right to reply. He argued that these measures, supported by constitutional reforms and recent federal legislation, aim to ensure truthful information and quality content in radio and television without infringing upon freedom of expression or acting as a censorship mechanism.
