Morena faces internal tension over coordinator selection process
Members of the Morena party are expressing distrust regarding the internal process to select coordinators for the defense of transformation and sovereignty across Mexico City's 16 boroughs. Some prominent militants have declined to register, citing concerns that the surveys may not be genuine and that participating would legitimize a flawed system.
Internal discussions have also highlighted specific officials who some members believe do not deserve reelection, despite their potential to win under the party brand. In Puebla, party officials clarified that those who missed the initial registration period may still participate through allied political parties as part of coalition agreements.
Party leadership emphasized that while participation remains open via coalitions, party statutes prohibit candidates from engaging in disparaging remarks or disqualifying fellow members and official processes.
