Morena launches signature campaign for fair rent law in Mexico City

The Morena party in Mexico City has launched the #NadieSinTecho campaign to collect citizen signatures in support of the proposed Law of Tenancy Relations and Fair, Reasonable, and Affordable Rents. Proposed by Head of Government Clara Brugada, the initiative aims to help families remain in their established neighborhoods and combat gentrification.

Paulo García, president of Morena CDMX, stated that signatures will be collected in person at parks, neighborhoods, and workplaces, as well as through a digital portal. The goal is to present this public support to Congress. García also acknowledged the role of anti-gentrification collectives in bringing the issue to the political agenda.

Additionally, Morena deputies in the Mexico City Congress announced an Open Parliament to analyze the initiative. This process is intended to ensure that citizen demands are integrated into the final legal framework before it is voted on in the Plenary session.
