Mexico's INE registers new parties Somos México and PAZ

The National Electoral Institute (INE) officially granted registration to two new national political parties, Somos México and PAZ, allowing them to begin activities, receive offices and administrative resources, and join the Council General and the National Surveillance Commission.

PAZ is associated with federal deputy Hugo Eric Flores, while Somos México is led by figures such as Guadalupe Acosta Naranjo and Cecilia Soto. Under Mexican election law, the two parties must compete individually in forthcoming elections and cannot form coalitions.

Separately, the Partido del Trabajo (PT) national commissioner Arcenio Ortega Lozano urged electoral authorities to sanction any candidates or public officials who engage in early campaign promotion ahead of the 2027 elections, stating that such actions "violan la ley electoral" and could give unfair advantages.
