Morena party faces internal friction during municipal selection processes
Internal tensions have emerged within Mexico's Morena party as candidates for municipal positions report instances of ‘fuego amigo’ (friendly fire) during the selection processes. While local deputy Armando Zertuche Zuani alerted to the existence of such conflicts, some aspirants are accused of exaggerating these claims to gain attention.
Lupita Gómez, the state president of Morena, has called on candidates to maintain respectful conduct. Observers note that while genuine infighting exists in some municipalities, several candidates claiming to be victims of political attacks appear to lack significant presence or viable chances of winning the internal surveys.
