Morena party to select candidates through National Elections Commission

Rómulo Pérez Sánchez, president of the Morena party's State Council in Tamaulipas, stated that candidate selections for upcoming elections will be handled by the National Elections Commission to avoid favoritism or personal agreements.

According to Pérez Sánchez, the selection process will focus on candidates with clear party identity, positive trajectories, and necessary qualifications. While a specific date for the federal coordination call has not been set, it is expected to be published toward the end of September 2026, with municipal calls following approximately 15 days later. The national commission will review profiles individually to determine suitability for municipal presidencies, local deputy positions, and federal deputy positions.
