Morena political shifts intensify in Guerrero

Political movements within the Morena party in Guerrero are shifting as internal competition and endorsements reshape the local landscape.

Senator Félix Salgado Macedonio held an assembly in Chilpancingo, where he urged party members to avoid infighting over candidacies. He emphasized the need to prioritize national sovereignty against what he described as the “ultra-right” in both Mexico and the United States. While Salgado did not explicitly confirm his candidacy for governor, his supporters frequently called for him to take the role during the event.

In a separate development, José Ojeda Jiménez, the former mayor of Chilapa, announced he is withdrawing his aspiration for the state coordination of Defense of the Transformation. Ojeda has pledged his political structure and territorial support to Esthela Damián Peralta. He stated that his decision aims to maintain unity among the party's founders and to promote agendas involving indigenous, Afro-Mexican, and retired populations.
