The National Leadership of the Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena) is conducting a nationwide internal process to select coordinators for the Defense of the Transformation and Sovereignty in each state. Meetings led by party president Ariadna Montiel and CNE head Citlalli Hernández have been held in Chihuahua, Baja California Sur, Quintana Roo, Sonora, Sinaloa, Zacatecas, Tlaxcala, Puebla and other entities. The process includes house‑to‑house visits, distribution of the Regeneración newspaper and informational assemblies, followed by telephone surveys in August and a final survey in early September to determine the six finalists in each state.

Candidates such as Christian Agúndez of Baja California Sur have publicly denied rumours of withdrawing from the race. The party has postponed the definition of its 2027 gubernatorial candidacies to keep internal unity and focus on President‑elect Claudia Sheinbaum’s government report. So far, at least 277 aspirants are competing for the 17 governorships that will be contested in 2027.
