Michoacán government allocates 4 million pesos for Day of the Dead celebrations

The Government of Michoacán, through the Secretariat of Tourism, has distributed approximately 4 million pesos to 56 municipalities, communities, and self-governing bodies to support the traditional Day of the Dead celebrations. This marks the sixth consecutive year that funds have been delivered directly and in advance to local communities to facilitate the decoration of streets and cemeteries, as well as the organization of cultural activities.

The support aims to promote the ancestral traditions of the region, including the Lacustrine Region and destinations like Pátzcuaro, Morelia, and the coastal areas. More than 700 activities are planned for the season, including artisanal workshops.

Authorities have noted specific logistical changes for this year, such as restrictions on entering the municipal cemetery on Janitzio Island due to ongoing public works. Visitors will be able to observe ceremonies from the lookout point instead.
