Morena to implement security vetting for 2027 candidates

Ariadna Montiel Reyes, national president of the Morena party, announced that all candidates for the 2027 elections will undergo a new vetting process in coordination with the federal security cabinet. This review will take place before the party submits its official lists to the National Electoral Institute (INE). Montiel emphasized that the party will not protect or cover up any members regarding misconduct, regardless of whether they hold public office.

During a visit to Hermosillo, Sonora, Montiel also addressed the appointment of Célida López Córdova as the coordinator for the defense of the ‘Fourth Transformation’ in Hermosillo. She defended the decision, stating it was based on survey results and public opinion rather than subjective leadership preference. Montiel noted that the party intends to engage with other participants, such as Wendy Briceño Zuluaga, to include them in various movement tasks.
