Morgan Freeman releases symphonic blues album
Actor Morgan Freeman has released his first musical project, ‘Morgan Freeman’s Symphonic Blues Experience’, an album that explores 100 years of blues history. The project originated from Freeman’s long-standing connection to the Mississippi Delta, where he first encountered the genre during his childhood.
Freeman serves as the producer and narrator for the album rather than a primary performer. The 12-track collection features a diverse array of professional musicians, including Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’, Shemekia Copeland, Tiernii Jackson, the Stax Music Academy Choir, and the Chineke! Orchestra of London. The album aims to fuse traditional Southern blues with classical and symphonic compositions to bring the genre to new global audiences.
The project grew out of a touring ensemble and Freeman’s previous involvement in the music scene through the Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, Mississippi.
