Morocco aviation sector sees passenger and revenue growth

Morocco's aviation sector experienced significant growth through the first nine months of 2026. According to the National Airports Office, Moroccan airports received over 29.3 million passengers, marking an 8.74% increase compared to the same period in 2025. International traffic rose by 8.73% to reach 26.15 million passengers, driven largely by the European market, which accounted for 21.66 million travelers.

Casablanca's Mohammed V Airport was the busiest hub, handling over 9.35 million passengers, followed by Marrakech-Menara with 8.11 million. Air cargo also saw a notable rise, growing 14.29% to reach 83,744 tons during the first nine months of the year.

Separately, the national carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has set ambitious targets for the end of 2026, aiming for 9.3 million passengers and annual revenues exceeding 25 billion dirhams. While the company reported a 17% increase in revenue between January and April 2026, reaching 11 billion dirhams, it also recorded a net loss of 71 million dirhams for that period, attributed in part to geopolitical tensions.
