Moroccan House of Representatives elects Bureau and committee heads
The Moroccan House of Representatives has completed its organizational structure by electing its Bureau members and the presidents of its nine standing committees. The election process, held during a public session presided over by Speaker Ahmed Touizi, saw a single list receive 293 votes out of 295 cast.
Key appointments to the Bureau include Mustapha Baytas as first Vice-President, followed by Khaled Chanak (second), Abdellah Bouanou (third), and Mohamed Ouzine (fourth). Other elected officials include various vice-presidents, accountants, and secretaries representing multiple political parties such as the RNI, Istiqlal, PJD, and USFP.
Standing committee leadership includes Mohamed Gharras (Foreign Affairs and National Defense), Moncef Toub (Interior and Local Authorities), Mohamed Ghayate (Justice and Legislation), Hicham El Mhajri (Finance and Economic Development), and Mustapha Ibrahimi (Social Sectors).
Additionally, Rim Chabat has been appointed as the president of the Mouvement Populaire (MP) parliamentary group for the new legislature. Observers noted a relatively low level of female representation within the new leadership, with women holding approximately 35.7% of Bureau positions and only 11.1% of committee chairmanships.
