Moroccan parties call for clean 2026 parliamentary elections and widespread voter participation

Parliamentary party leaders gathered with Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit in Rabat to prepare for the September 23, 2026 legislative elections. The meeting stressed the need for a transparent, fair electoral process and urged intensive voter mobilisation, particularly among youth, women, people with disabilities and Moroccans living abroad.

Representatives of the Independence Party, Popular Movement, Progressive and Socialistic Party, Constitutional Union and other groups praised the ministry’s collaborative approach, the recent legal reforms that tighten candidate lists, and the rollout of digital tools for voter registration. They also highlighted King Mohammed VI’s directives to activate a central committee that monitors the elections and called for equal media access for all parties.

The parties urged the government to expedite measures that facilitate the participation of the diaspora and to continue public awareness campaigns so citizens can exercise their democratic rights freely in the upcoming vote.
