Moroccan political parties propose economic reforms ahead of elections

As legislative elections approach in Morocco, political parties are intensifying their campaigns by focusing on economic solutions to address unemployment and purchasing power. Fouzi Lekjaa, a member of the political bureau of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), emphasized in Marrakech that political debate must shift toward concrete proposals that directly improve citizens' daily lives.

Lekjaa addressed the proposal to raise the minimum wage to 5,000 dirhams, stating that such measures must be evaluated based on their feasibility and real impact on citizens. He highlighted the need for growth and economic integration for young people.

Political competition is also being defined by financial commitments. The National Rally of Independents (RNI) estimates a need for 224 billion dirhams to fund its five-year program, while the PAM proposes 350 billion dirhams. The Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) has suggested 575 billion dirhams in additional spending, contrasted against 622 billion dirhams in additional revenue. In contrast, the Justice and Development Party (PJD) has declined to set specific numerical targets for growth, wages, or job creation.
