Moroccan prosecutor calls for strict protection of electoral roll integrity
The President of Morocco's Ministry of Public issued a circular to senior prosecutors, urging them to act firmly against any acts that could compromise the integrity and transparency of the general electoral rolls. The memo stresses that voter registration determines the electorate and is essential for citizens to exercise their voting rights once legal conditions are met.
The circular cites Law No. 57.11, as amended by Law No. 55.25, which criminalises offences related to electoral registration and sets sanctions to safeguard this critical stage of the democratic process. Prosecutors are instructed to mobilise all legal tools to prevent irregularities that could undermine confidence in future elections.
