Morocco reports record tourism and air travel growth in 2026

Morocco is experiencing significant growth in its tourism and transport sectors. According to the Directorate of Financial Studies and Forecasts, the country welcomed 9.4 million tourists in the first half of 2026, a 6% year-on-year increase. Tourism revenues reached 64.9 billion dirhams, up 15.9% compared to the previous year.

Air travel has seen historic surges. Moroccan Airports reported that national air traffic reached over 22.2 million passengers through July 2026, an 8.77% increase. During the summer 2026 peak, Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport recorded a single-day milestone of 46,439 travelers. Other major airports, including Marrakech Menara, Rabat-Salé, and Agadir-Al Massira, also reported record-breaking daily passenger volumes. This growth is being managed under the ‘Airports 2030’ strategy, which focuses on infrastructure modernization and capacity expansion.

In the rail sector, ONCF reported that the Al Boraq high-speed train served nearly 2.8 million passengers in the first half of 2026, representing a 9% increase. The railway office also saw a 6% rise in consolidated turnover, reaching 3.131 billion dirhams, supported by ongoing investments in the national rail network.
