Morocco allocates public‑media airtime to 27 parties for 2026 parliamentary election

The Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication organized a lottery on 23 July 2026 to assign public‑broadcast slots to the 27 political parties contesting the parliamentary elections scheduled for 23 September 2026. The draw, overseen by sector chief Abdel Aziz Boujdaïni in Rabat, involved party representatives and officials from state‑owned audiovisual outlets.

Parties were grouped into three categories based on parliamentary representation. Group 1 (parties with a parliamentary group or enough members) receives a total of 21 minutes of airtime, split into three seven‑minute slots, plus a five‑minute interview segment. Group 2 (represented parties without a group) gets 15 minutes in three five‑minute slots and a three‑minute interview. Group 3 (non‑represented parties) is allotted 9 minutes in three three‑minute slots with no interview. Public broadcasters will also cover one rally per party, allocating three minutes for Group 1, two and a half minutes for Group 2, and two minutes for Group 3.

The allocation follows decree No 2.11.610 governing the use of public media during election campaigns, aiming to balance exposure, prevent simultaneous broadcasting across multiple state channels, and ensure fair coverage throughout the campaign period.
