Morocco and Egypt face high temperatures as summer approaches

Moroccan weather services forecast a hot start to the 2026 summer, with daytime highs reaching 39‑40 °C in cities such as Marrakech, Agadir and Rabat, while overnight lows remain between 18‑24 °C across the country.

In Egypt, the meteorological authority warned that the Greater Cairo area will see temperatures around 33 °C, with Luxor and Aswan recording the highest values. Coastal regions are expected to experience humidity levels up to 95 %, intensifying the heat sensation. Officials advised the public—especially students taking exams—to avoid direct sun exposure during midday, drink plenty of fluids, and use head coverings or umbrellas for protection.
