Morocco and India to cooperate on AI and digital services

Morocco and India are strengthening bilateral cooperation in digital transformation and artificial intelligence. During talks in Rabat between Morocco’s Minister for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, and India’s Minister of State for Commerce, Industry, Electronics, and Information Technology, Shri Girish Prasad, the two nations discussed developing public digital infrastructure and exchanging best practices.

The discussions focused on several key areas, including digital identity, electronic payments, and data governance, aimed at modernizing administration and improving public services. Both parties agreed to establish a joint committee to work on digital languages and technologies, specifically focusing on Large Language Models (LLM).

A significant part of the partnership involves developing Small Language Models (SLM) to integrate Moroccan Darija and Amazigh into the ‘idarati.ma’ platform. This initiative supports the work of the Al-Jazari Institute, which aims to facilitate easier citizen interaction with government services through linguistic technology.
