Morocco arrests 11 in multinational heroin and hashish trafficking bust

On 8 June, Moroccan police and security agencies carried out a coordinated operation in Marrakech and Tangier that resulted in the arrest of 11 individuals suspected of drug trafficking, money‑laundering and organized‑crime activities. The detainees, who hold Moroccan, French, Belgian and Dutch citizenship, were subject to national and international arrest warrants.

Authorities say the network operated from northern Morocco, using fast boats to transport hashish and cocaine toward European coasts, notably Spain. The crackdown is part of Morocco’s intensified cooperation with European agencies such as Europol to disrupt the western Mediterranean narcotics corridor. The arrested persons have been placed in Moroccan custody pending possible extradition to the requesting European states.
