Morocco arrests European nationals in transnational crime crackdown
Moroccan security services, in coordination with Europol and Interpol, have conducted a series of arrests targeting transnational organized crime networks.
In Tangier, authorities arrested a 27-year-old French national of Algerian origin who was the subject of an Interpol red notice. The suspect is wanted by French judicial authorities in connection with a fatal shooting involving a firearm in the Paris suburbs in July 2024. He has been placed in extradition proceedings.
In a broader Europol-coordinated operation, three other European nationals were apprehended in Tangier and Agadir. These include a 28-year-old Danish national wanted for incitement to murder and kidnapping, a 21-year-old Swedish national linked to the Foxtrot criminal organization, and a 31-year-old Swedish national suspected of involvement in drug trafficking and murder preparations.
Europol reports that these highly structured criminal networks utilize social media and encrypted messaging to recruit operatives, often targeting young individuals with promises of financial gain.
