Morocco dam reservoirs reach 65.3% capacity following rainfall

Morocco's national dam reservoir levels have reached 65.3% as of October 5, 2026, with total stored water amounting to approximately 11.118 billion cubic meters. This represents a 104% increase compared to the same period last year, when levels stood at 32.51%.

Recent rainfall has significantly benefited several basins. The Sebou basin shows a high filling rate of 77.3%, followed by the Bouregreg and Chaouia basin at 76.1%, and the Tensift basin at 75.3%. Other notable improvements include the Hassan Addakhil dam in the Guir-Ziz-Ghris basin, which reached 54.83% capacity, and the Mohammed V dam on the Moulouya at 22.60%.

Despite the national improvement, regional disparities persist. The Draâ-Oued Noun basin remains at 34.5%, while the Guir-Ziz-Ghris basin is at 40.1%. While the current levels are the most favorable in several years, experts note that the long-term hydrological year depends heavily on upcoming winter precipitation.
