Morocco dam water levels rise to 66.57% in October
Morocco's national dam water levels reached 66.57% in late October 2026, a significant increase compared to the 31.72% recorded during the same period in 2025. The total volume of stored water rose to approximately 11.33 billion cubic meters, representing a substantial year-on-year improvement driven by rainfall across several regions.
The Moulouya basin saw the highest increase in water inflows, adding 44.24 million cubic meters, with the Mohammed V Dam reaching a 78.13% fill rate. The Guir-Ziz-Ghris basin also recorded significant gains, bolstered by water flows in the Oued Ahmer in Errachidia. Other basins, including Oum Er-Rbia and Bouregreg, reported increases in their water reserves.
While the overall national trend is positive, improvements vary by region. Some southern and southeastern basins continue to report lower storage levels. For instance, the Todgha Dam fill rate remains low at 9%, and the Al Massira Dam is at 40%, despite holding over 1.08 billion cubic meters of water.
