Morocco economic growth slows to 4% amid agricultural rebound
Morocco's economic growth slowed to 4% in the second quarter of 2026, down from 5.8% during the same period in 2025, according to data from the Haut-Commissariat au Plan (HCP). This growth was primarily driven by a significant rebound in the agricultural sector, which saw a value-added increase of 21.2%, and a 15.9% rise in fishing. Domestic demand also contributed to the national growth, increasing by 5%.
In contrast, non-agricultural activities experienced a slowdown, with growth dropping from 4.9% to 1.5%. The secondary sector saw a contraction of 3.9% in value-added volume.
In the financial sector, Crédit Agricole du Maroc reported a net income for its group share of 112 million dirhams for the first half of 2026, a 1% increase compared to the previous year. The group's loans outstanding reached 136 billion dirhams, representing a 20% increase, reflecting continued financing efforts for various economic sectors, particularly agriculture.
