Morocco economic growth projected at 4.5% to 4.7% for 2026

Morocco's economic outlook for 2026 shows projected growth and shifting trade dynamics. The High Commission for Planning expects the national economy to grow by 4.7% in the fourth quarter of 2026, driven by the agriculture and services sectors, as well as a projected 6.8% increase in investment fueled by major infrastructure projects.

However, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) provides a slightly different perspective, projecting overall growth of 4.5% for 2026 and 4.2% for 2027. The IMF also warns of a widening current-account deficit, which is expected to reach 4.9% of GDP in 2026, up from 2.4% in 2025, due to higher energy import costs.

In terms of energy trade, data from Insights Global indicates that Morocco is among the destinations receiving new gasoline shipments from the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) petroleum zone in Europe. While specific volumes are not disclosed, this movement coincides with a broader trend of energy distribution from European hubs to various international markets.
