Morocco emerging as African industrial model and investment hub

Morocco is being promoted as a benchmark for industrial development across Africa. Francisca Tatchouop Belobe, the African Union commissioner for economic development, highlighted the kingdom’s progress in automotive, aerospace, mining and renewable‑energy sectors after meeting industry minister Ryad Mezzour in Rabat. She said Morocco’s experience can help other African nations implement the AU’s accelerated industrialisation plan through shared expertise and skilled labour.

Standard Chartered also cites Morocco as a leading destination for new African investment flows. Bank executive Dalu Ajene told Reuters that reforms, transparent regulations and partnership frameworks – notably with the United Arab Emirates – are attracting Gulf and institutional capital to sectors such as mining, energy and food security. The bank expects these agreements to boost larger‑scale financing for Morocco and other selected African markets.
