Morocco engages in strategic dialogue with OAS observers in Washington
Morocco's Ambassador to Washington, Youssef Amrani, participated in a strategic dialogue with Permanent Observers to the Organization of American States (OAS) during a special meeting of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development.
Amrani stated that Morocco's role as a Permanent Observer is driven by the belief that the Atlantic Ocean serves as a space for partnership rather than a barrier. He advocated for South-South cooperation to transition from dialogue to concrete action by addressing the specific priorities of OAS member states.
To address challenges in food security, water security, and energy transition, the Ambassador highlighted Morocco's expertise in sustainable agriculture, water desalination, and large-scale renewable energy. He proposed using the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) to expand scholarships, technical training, and knowledge exchange for youth and professionals from OAS member nations. Morocco also suggested implementing pilot projects in areas facing water stress or soil degradation to establish a roadmap for future cooperation.
