Morocco expands gaming industry support and international presence
Morocco is expanding its presence in the global video game industry through new institutional support and international visibility. The Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication has made gaming companies eligible for the country’s Innovation Support Fund. A dedicated sub-programme for 2026 to 2028 will provide financial assistance for prototyping and pilot industrialization, aiming to lower the initial costs of game development.
At the Gamescom trade fair, Morocco hosted its first-ever international pavilion, showcasing its growing potential in the mobile gaming sector. Featured studios include Qasbah Labs, which is developing the 4X-style game ‘Rivaldom: Lead or Fall’, and Ribat Studio, which is working on ‘Kasbah’.
While the government's funding addresses early-stage development, industry observers note the ongoing challenge for Moroccan studios to transition from production services to owning valuable intellectual property and securing international publishing agreements.
