Morocco expands strategic defense and cybersecurity ties with U.S. and Liberia
Morocco and the United States are expanding their strategic partnership to include defense, cybersecurity, and space technology. During a meeting on October 16, 2026, Moroccan official Abdeltif Loudyi met with a U.S. Congressional delegation led by House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers to discuss bilateral military cooperation and the 2026-2036 military cooperation roadmap. The discussions also highlighted the importance of the annual African Lion military exercise in enhancing regional interoperability.
In a separate development, Liberia is strengthening its cybersecurity ties with Morocco. Following Liberia’s participation in Morocco Cyber Security Week in Rabat, Liberian Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Sekou M. Kromah met with Morocco’s General Directorate for Information Systems Security (DGSSI). The two nations have agreed to pursue a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate capacity building, technical cooperation, and knowledge exchange to protect Liberia’s critical digital infrastructure.
