Morocco integrity authority calls for clean 2026 elections

The National Authority for Integrity, Prevention and Fight against Corruption in Morocco has issued a call for collective commitment to ensure integrity during the upcoming 2026 legislative elections. The authority emphasized that electoral participation must be free, conscious, and responsible, based on political programs and trust rather than material gain or bribery.

To support this goal, the authority has launched a ‘Voter Guide’ and stressed the importance of using legal and institutional mechanisms to report corruption. The institution noted that while Morocco possesses an advanced constitutional and legislative framework, the true challenge lies in the effective application of rules and the prevention of corruption risks throughout all stages of the electoral process.

Ensuring integrity is described as a shared responsibility involving the administration, the judiciary, financial oversight bodies, governance institutions, and civil society. The authority also highlighted the impact of the digital space on elections, noting that while technology offers new opportunities for communication and information access, it also introduces new risks to the electoral process.
