North Africa and Middle East face extreme heat and storms

Multiple countries across North Africa and the Middle East are facing extreme weather conditions, including intense heatwaves and heavy thunderstorms.

In Morocco, meteorological authorities have issued orange alerts for several provinces, warning of thunderstorms with potential hail and strong winds. Simultaneously, southern regions are bracing for a severe heatwave with temperatures expected to reach between 45 and 48 degrees Celsius.

Egypt is experiencing high humidity and heat, with temperatures in Cairo and other northern areas remaining elevated. While a slight decrease in temperature is expected in the north, southern regions continue to face intense heat. Authorities have advised citizens to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours and to stay hydrated.

Saudi Arabia is also seeing extreme temperatures, with Dammam recording up to 48 degrees Celsius. The National Center of Meteorology has warned of dust-inducing winds and potential thunderstorms in regions such as Asir and Jazan.

In Algeria, the National Meteorological Office has predicted widespread rain and thunderstorms across various provinces, alongside intense heat in certain areas and sand-lifting winds in the south. Other regional reports from Qatar and Palestine also indicate temperatures remaining above annual averages, accompanied by warnings against direct sun exposure and fire risks in dry areas.
