Morocco Leads Africa in Industrial Index and Business Climate Rankings

Morocco has been named the leading industrial power in Africa for the first time, overtaking South Africa in the African Development Bank’s Africa Industrialisation Index 2025. The report credits the country’s export‑oriented manufacturing, especially its automotive sector centred on Tanger and Kenitra, a growing aerospace industry, and the logistics hub of Tanger Med. These developments are described as a shift from simple assembly to integrated value chains that include components, engineering and electric‑mobility.

In a separate assessment, Morocco topped the French Council of Investors in Africa’s annual business‑climate barometer, scoring 3.9 out of 5 and outpacing nations such as Mauritius, Uganda, Algeria and South Africa. The survey highlighted political stability, strategic location, infrastructure projects and ongoing economic reforms as key drivers attracting foreign investment.

Both reports underline Morocco’s strategy of combining strong industrial policy with improved regulatory efficiency, digitalisation of procedures and incentives for investors, positioning the kingdom as a principal manufacturing and trade hub for the continent.
