Morocco Ministry of Education outlines 2027 budget and priorities
Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Vocational Training, Mohamed Nabil Benabdallah, presented the ministry’s 2027 work program and budget to the House of Representatives. The proposed budget for the sector totals 106.95 billion dirhams, an increase from 102.19 billion dirhams in 2026.
Key priorities for 2027 include reducing classroom overcrowding, rehabilitating educational institutions, and combating school dropout rates. The ministry aims to reduce overcrowding in primary schools to below 0.8 percent and in secondary education to below 7 percent. To support this, the plan includes building hundreds of new schools and adding thousands of classrooms.
Regarding vocational training, the budget shows a decrease of approximately 200 million dirhams compared to 2026, specifically in equipment and miscellaneous expenses. Despite this reduction, the government aims to expand apprenticeship programs, targeting 150,000 beneficiaries annually by 2027. The ministry also intends to launch the “Competencies 2030” program to enhance training and reintegration for youth.
