Morocco, Nigeria deepen ties at Throne Day, spotlight Atlantic gas pipeline

Morocco’s ambassador to Nigeria, Moha Tagma, addressed a reception in Abuja marking the 27th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession. He reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Nigeria, citing cooperation in trade, agriculture, security and culture.

The ambassador highlighted the Nigeria‑Morocco Africa Atlantic Gas Pipeline (AAGP) as a flagship project. An ECOWAS inter‑governmental agreement on the pipeline was signed in Freetown, and the initiative, first launched by King Mohammed VI and the late President Muhammadu Buhari and now backed by President Bola Tinubu, is projected to serve over 400 million people across 13 African nations. Tagma said the pipeline will foster regional integration and position the Northwest African Atlantic region as a key player in global energy markets.
